A year in review — one frame from every session, but the truth is that the story behind these photos is just as important.

This year I grew creatively in ways I used to only hope for.
I finally found consistency in my editing style, and I strengthened the kind of client relationships that make this job more than “work.” Those pieces gave me life.

And then… real life happened too.
I spent months feeling like I was sprinting only to fall behind anyway — until a proper ADHD diagnosis finally connected the dots between motivation, balance, and the heaviness I couldn’t name. On the business side, slow seasons tested my confidence, and once things picked up, I found myself buried under an editing backlog while juggling a part-time job that gave me structure, connection, and space to rebuild my momentum.

I thought about quitting more times than I’ll ever admit out loud.
But every time I came close, something in me pushed back — a reminder that I’ve still got it, even as life shifts and I grow older. I learned I’m allowed to start again, that my mistakes don’t define me, and that resilience isn’t loud… sometimes it’s just quietly getting back up and showing up anyway.

To everyone who trusted me to tell their story this year — thank you.
Your support kept this little business of mine alive and gave me room to rediscover my spark. If you’d like to create together again in 2026, or if it’s finally your turn to be on the other side of the lens, I’d be honoured to capture your moments when the time feels right.

Here’s to growth that doesn’t always look pretty, work that still matters, and a New Year that I’m walking into with both feet planted and my camera ready.

2024 Year in Review | North Bay & Callander Photographer

2024 was a year full of the challenges and ups and downs that I know many small businesses have faced lately. I know the economy hasn’t been wonderful, and that makes me even more grateful to each and every one of you for choosing me, for trusting me to capture your special moments and memories. I very much look forward to continuing to grow through these challenges, and I have so much hope and vision for the future of Raindance Photography.

2025 will be a year of personal and professional growth for me. I have so much planned – from an entire years’ line up of Mini Events to investing in professional development and honing my skill. I am looking forward to spending time in all of my favourite places between Barrie, Midland, Penetanguishene, Callander, North Bay and beyond photographing all of your beautiful smiling faces; your sweet, brand new squishy newborns, and your favourite furry friends too!

Lifestyle newborn sessions like this one allow us to document those early days of your new baby’s life, freezing moments in time for you to cherish forever. These sessions are available in the North Bay area at a discounted price point, OR in the comfort of your own home in Barrie, Midland, Penetanguishene, Gravenhurst or Huntsville.

These sessions are best done while baby is between 5-21 days of age, and are best booked while you are still expecting (although if baby has arrived and you’d like to book, I can accommodate last minute requests, so don’t be afraid to reach out!)

New Newborn Package | North Bay & Callander Newborn Baby & Family Photographer

Over the years, my newborn sessions have all focused on baby. The new addition to the family, a session to celebrate their arrival and document this special time in a family’s life, photographing baby on multiple backdrops, on different colours and in different props… Some of my packages included the option for family portraits and siblings, but because posing baby on all of the different sets on their own takes so much time and patience, the family segment is always a quick add-in at the beginning of the session and then we move on to focus on baby alone.

I’ve been noticing a gap in my package offerings as of late, particularly for the crowd who has older siblings, and so I’ve finally remedied it! Introducing the brand new “Family + Newborn” Collection!

This package combines everything I know and love about my family sessions AND newborn sessions and rolls them all together into one perfect package so that, in the end, you’re left with a beautiful gallery with everything you need to update family albums and create art walls in your home. Bonus is that because it takes me a bit less time to complete, it comes with a lower price tag as well (not by a lot, but any savings is good, right!?) 😛

The Family + Newborn Collection begins with two different poses of family portraits (standing and sitting), and then a set with just parents and their new bundle. Images of just each parent on their own with new baby are captured, and if there are older siblings involved they get to have their picture taken with each of them as well. Then, we move on to sibling portraits and capture all of those beautiful kiddos together. The one major change to this collection that the other packages don’t have is the incorporation of individual portraits of each child. You’re photographing your brand new baby all by themselves, so I really felt that any and all older siblings deserved to have updated portraits of themselves as well. This is a super important and exciting time in all of their lives, and they deserve to be remembered just how they are, right now, as well.

After siblings have had their time to shine in front of the camera, then it’s baby’s turn. New baby is photographed wrapped, on one solid colour backdrop from multiple angles (including those gorgeous macro (close up) shots of their little features – lips, eyelashes, ears, fingers, toes…) If baby’s temperament will allow, then I peel back the layers of wrap and attempt a few different poses on that same backdrop. The end result is a perfect, cohesive gallery, and I love everything about it. I hope that you all will too!

Happy 2023! | North Bay & Callander Photography Studio

Happy New Year!

I know, every other photographer published their new year posts on like, January 1st so I’m a little late to the game here, as it’s January 11th already (2023! What!?) But, going in to the new year, I set an intention that I would be present more, not just for my family, but for myself. So, over the holiday break I did just that – I was present in every moment. I enjoyed every second. Savoured it all, to the point where I found myself just… content. I hung out with my kids (made me feel like a teenager again! lol!), caught up with family, visited with people we hadn’t seen in ages, and I loved every second. By the time my kids went back to school this week, I decided to just spend the first few days alone, quietly reflecting.

Going in to 2023, I feel so grateful. I’m grateful for a thousand different things in my own personal life, but I’m SUPER grateful for all of you who support my little business. Whether you hire me to capture your life’s most precious memories, or whether you simply interact with my posts and drop a comment, like or love every now and again; I’m grateful for you. My business wouldn’t exist without you.

2022 was an amazing year for me, finally spreading my wings in this new community that we moved to back in 2019 (but then “you.know.what” happened and so my plans to re-establish my business here were all paused for a long while). Being able to see A LOT of new faces up here and also still travel back to Barrie a few times to see my amazing clients down there filled my whole heart.

I have lots of plans for this year too! I fully intend to slowly ease into this year and spend as much time with my family as I can all throughout 2023. I’m being really cognisant this year to not overbook myself, so that I can deliver a quality product that everyone expects from me in a more timely fashion.

This year, you can expect Studio Mini Events in March (Easter/Spring Minis), April (Motherhood Minis), potentially June (Graduation Minis), September (Back to School Portraits, and Christmas minis will begin), and November (the last of the Christmas Minis). I’m hoping to be able to do some Pet Minis this year as well (with all proceeds going to a local rescue).

So, lots and lots going on! Lots of planning to do. I’m fully booked for January and still have some space in February for anyone looking for a full session (especially Newborns). The best time to book is while you’re still expecting to guarantee you space in my calendar.
