Crisp, cool temperatures. The smell of falling leaves, warm coffee, knit blankets and a good book… Fall might actually be my favourite time of the year (even though I’m not quite ready to give up on Summer just yet!) Photographing families on the beautiful, warm Fall colours is one of my absolute favourite things, so I’m excited that my Fall schedule is now open for booking!
As always, thanks to this fleeting opportunity that Mother Nature throws our way every year, availability is limited. The following dates and times are available for you to reserve now:
FULL SESSIONS
These timeslots are premium weekend timeslots, meant to accommodate Full Sessions, either the Classic or the Heritage Extended Family Collections. Full package pricing is linked below.

These are full sessions (I’m not doing Fall Minis this year because it’s just too crazy trying to reschedule a voluminous amount of families in the event of inclement weather, which we’ve had a lot of lately). The bonus of full sessions is that you have my full, unrushed, undivided attention for as long as it takes to capture those perfect moments – more poses, more digital files, a USB and colour prints instead of just an online download… you get the idea. 😉

Barrie Sessions in October Now Booking! | Child & Family Photographer
Barrie! I’m on my way back to see you and I have some time slots still available for my event in October!
WHEN? Sunday October 2 @ 4:15pm; Monday October 3 @ 7:30am, 4:15pm, 5:00pm, 5:45pm; and Tuesday October 4 @ 7:30am, 4:15pm, 5:00pm, 5:45pm. Rain date Wednesday October 5th.
*I do finally have an option available for you more adventurous types to go ahead and shoot in the rain (my equipment got a rain coat, and I bought a bunch of clear umbrellas for clients to be photographed with!) 
WHERE? Barrie! Morning sunrise sessions will happen in The Field (near Essa Road). Evening sessions will be held at the Sunnidale Arboretum for backdrop versatility.

Fall Minis NOW BOOKING | North Bay & Callander Family & Child Photographer
I can’t even believe it’s that time of year again already! I thought I had so much time left before I needed to open bookings for my Fall Family Mini Event this year, but then the crisp weather snuck up on me and reminded me that NOW is the time!
I don’t even need to mention that this year is different than other years for so many reasons… We will be homeschooling our kiddos this year, and as a result, my availability has changed drastically, reducing the number of sessions that I can accept each month. These Fall Mini Timeslots will be offered at a discounted price over my regular minis, as they will all be happening on two days when I have availability. If you require a date that is different from what is offered here, it is possible, but regular rates will apply.
So, WHEN IS THE EVENT?
Friday October 9th and Saturday October 10th. Timeslots run for 20 minutes every half hour from 9am-11am AND 3pm-5:30pm (There are 9 timeslots each day, total).
WHERE?
Callander, Ontario. Full location details will be given on booking.
WHAT’S THE DEAL?
20 minute session (immediate families only, or just your children, or pets… Whatever you need beautiful portraits of! Extended Families will need to book 2 timeslots so that we have enough time).
8 digital files of your choice in colour and black and white, in both print quality and web-format, which you choose from a private online ordering gallery. Upgrade options are available for anyone wishing to have more than the 8 images that come with the package. Files are then delivered via online download gallery as soon as full retouching is complete.

North Bay – You’ve asked, I’ve listened! I’ve gotten a large number of requests for fall mini sessions this year, and I’ll be honest, I was on the fence about offering them because the season is so short and we’re not at peak colours yet… between trying to coordinate availability amongst myself, clients, Fall colours, and the rain that didn’t seem like it was ever going to let up for a while there, the task seemed daunting. I’m happy now to say that the forecast is looking more promising, the leaves are quickly changing, and I’ve juggled my schedule around a little bit so that I can accommodate THREE evenings worth of mini sessions!

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT DURING OUR SESSION?
During a session with me, you can expect full direction as far as posing goes! I help to get you and your children into position, I correct your hair if it’s in your face after your hands are positioned, I tell you when to look at me and smile, when to look at your children, I give prompts every single step of the way to take the guess-work out of this for you! When it comes to the kiddos, sometimes they just need to run wild and free, and if this is your child, please don’t fret! I will chase them around and play with them while shooting until I’m satisfied that I have a beautiful gallery to give you to choose from. You can expect laughter, fun, and a beautiful quality final product! If the images below look like something you’d love of your own people, I would love to work with you!

The Couchie Family | North Bay & Callander Family Photographer
When I began photographing families nearly a decade ago, I was keen to learn, excited to try new things, and TERRIFIED at the idea of photographing another photographers’ family. LOL! I’ll let you in on a little secret… all of those statements still apply today. Behind the scenes, I am constantly brushing up on new techniques to improve my work, I’m always up for trying something new, and when other photographers hire me I fret like it’s nobody’s business that for some reason I will forget everything I know I’m good at and not remember how to turn on my own camera. That’s never actually happened, by the way…
This summer, I had the pleasure of working with this lovely family in Callander, once again. Mama is an incredibly talented professional photographer in the area, and once every few years I have the honour of updating her family portraits. Even when you’re a photographer (maybe especially if you’re a photographer) I think it’s so important to let someone else photograph your family. If you’re the parent in the family who’s always behind the camera, you’ve probably noticed that your family albums are lacking of your presence. So even though I feel like I’d love to lose 50 lbs before stepping in front of the camera, I know that my children love me just the way I am, and they cherish these images of us all together at this point in their lives, and I love to see how they look at me through someone else’s lens.
I love every type of photography that I do – maternity, newborn, children, families, and pets – each for different reasons. One of my absolute favourites though, is family photography. I LOVE to be able to draw out real, raw emotion. I love to show parents the beauty in their chaos. I love to pose families nice and close, in a little tight group snuggle, and encourage them to tell each other stories from when the kids were really little (kids love this) and then snap away as the magic of their connection and family dynamic shines through. Each and every one of my sessions starts with group family portraits (both formal and candid, standing AND sitting), and then moves on to sibling portraits, individual child portraits, couples portraits, and then if time allows, MORE awesome family portrait opportunities that get everyone up and moving around, jumping, twirling, running, and having FUN! I pride myself on being able to make those connections, creating real emotion, and turning tears and fears that can sometimes happen at the beginning of the session into genuine smiles and laughter. If I have one downfall, it’s that I usually provide clients with galleries that are a little on the large side, because there’s just so much awesomeness that happens in every session (sorry, not sorry!) 😛
As you peek through my pricing and package page (which still has introductory rates until December 31, 2019, for sessions taking place in the North Bay Region) you may wonder what I mean when I refer to the “entire gallery”. If you scroll through all of the beautiful images below, you’ll see an example of what an entire gallery actually looks like. Some folks can narrow their selections down to the package that comes with 10 images, and others can’t. For those that can’t, the All Inclusive Package exists, and it looks like this…

The Shevalier Family | North Bay & Callander Family Photographer
Crisp, Fall air and the sweet smells of baked apples and pumpkin spice make my heart beat faster. Yes, I’m one of THOSE people. I LIVE for photographing families on the beautiful, fiery backdrop of fallen leaves. Last year, I didn’t get the opportunity to photograph many families during peak colours, as I had just undergone surgery. I was pretty excited when I was finally able to pick up my camera again, and when I did, this lovely little family were the first (and only) ones I got to photograph before the leaves had all fallen and the opportunity had passed for other families.
This year, now that we are living in Callander, where the leaves change sooner than they do down South, I’m super excited to have a handful of dates available to photograph families, children, pets and couples during the peak of this season’s beauty.
