A year in review — one frame from every session, but the truth is that the story behind these photos is just as important.

This year I grew creatively in ways I used to only hope for.
I finally found consistency in my editing style, and I strengthened the kind of client relationships that make this job more than “work.” Those pieces gave me life.

And then… real life happened too.
I spent months feeling like I was sprinting only to fall behind anyway — until a proper ADHD diagnosis finally connected the dots between motivation, balance, and the heaviness I couldn’t name. On the business side, slow seasons tested my confidence, and once things picked up, I found myself buried under an editing backlog while juggling a part-time job that gave me structure, connection, and space to rebuild my momentum.

I thought about quitting more times than I’ll ever admit out loud.
But every time I came close, something in me pushed back — a reminder that I’ve still got it, even as life shifts and I grow older. I learned I’m allowed to start again, that my mistakes don’t define me, and that resilience isn’t loud… sometimes it’s just quietly getting back up and showing up anyway.

To everyone who trusted me to tell their story this year — thank you.
Your support kept this little business of mine alive and gave me room to rediscover my spark. If you’d like to create together again in 2026, or if it’s finally your turn to be on the other side of the lens, I’d be honoured to capture your moments when the time feels right.

Here’s to growth that doesn’t always look pretty, work that still matters, and a New Year that I’m walking into with both feet planted and my camera ready.

Barrie Summer Sessions Now Booking | Barrie Family Photographer

It might still be snowy and frigid out there, but I promise you, Summer is COMING! It’s that time of year again to open booking for my Summer Family Photo Events, which will take place this year on:

Friday June 13th & Saturday June 14th from 5:45-8pm

Friday July 11th & Saturday July 12th from 5:45-8pm and

Friday August 22nd & Saturday August 23rd from 4:45-7pm

(morning Sunrise timeslots can be arranged on the Saturday and Sunday mornings)

For planning purposes, I wanted to share all of this with you today, so that if you’re thinking about a session with me in 2025, you can pick the one that works best for you (or two, or heck sometimes people even pick three!)

January/February – Sports & Talent Minis (No set dates, contact to book a custom session)

February/March – Headshot Minis

March/April – Motherhood Minis (there will be two dates each month, TBD)

Late March – Easter Minis (Dates TBD)

Early-Mid May – Fatherhood Minis (Dates TBD)

May/June – Graduation Minis (Dates TBD)

June, July & August – Barrie Family Sessions (Exact dates TBD)

June – Beach Minis (North Bay/Callander)

October – Fall Minis

October/November – Cozy Cabin Christmas Minis & Gingerbread House Minis (Simply Green & White Fireplace Christmas will be making a comeback this year too!)

November/December – New Year Minis (think GLITTER!)

All of these sessions are always available at promotional pricing due to volume booking. If you’re interested in more details about a particular session before booking officially opens for each event, please reach out and ask!

If you’re interested in a Full Session so that you can have more time for a larger variety of poses and to custom tailor all set and location details to your own personal vision, those are available for booking all year long. Reach out any time.

2024 was a year full of the challenges and ups and downs that I know many small businesses have faced lately. I know the economy hasn’t been wonderful, and that makes me even more grateful to each and every one of you for choosing me, for trusting me to capture your special moments and memories. I very much look forward to continuing to grow through these challenges, and I have so much hope and vision for the future of Raindance Photography.

2025 will be a year of personal and professional growth for me. I have so much planned – from an entire years’ line up of Mini Events to investing in professional development and honing my skill. I am looking forward to spending time in all of my favourite places between Barrie, Midland, Penetanguishene, Callander, North Bay and beyond photographing all of your beautiful smiling faces; your sweet, brand new squishy newborns, and your favourite furry friends too!

I am wishing you all the warmest wishes for a safe and Happy New Year and health and abundance for the year to come.

A lot of people don’t know that newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting to guarantee that your baby will be seen during that ideal first 5-21 days of life. This is the window where babies are still quite sleepy, squishy, and poseable so that we can achieve the look that you see in my work on my website.

The Client Appreciation Contest is Coming Back!

I have some exciting news this morning (no, it’s not about my Studio, although since everyone has been asking after my announcement earlier this year – my beautiful little Studio is still located in Callander and I have not moved.)

Past clients of mine, pre-2020 may remember this, but anyone I’ve met since has not had the opportunity to experience an annual Client Appreciation Contest yet. With all of the uncertainty that came with the onset of 2020, I had halted the contest until I was absolutely certain about the future of my business. Now, here we are at the end of 2024 and I am SO EXCITED to finally be bringing this back!

I always loved showing my clients how much I appreciate them. Without all of you trusting me to document your special moments – from the beginning of new life, the end of life, and all of the memories in between, I wouldn’t be able to do what I love so much for a living. Every year, I would put out a call for anyone who had a session for me that year to pick one photo and tell me why it was their favourite. That photo was then entered into the Client Appreciation Contest where a grand prize winner would be chosen at random to receive their next Full All Inclusive photo session completely on me! There were also 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place opportunities to win mini sessions and beautiful printed products for entries with the most “votes” on their images (on the Facebook platform).

Not only am I bringing the contest back for THIS year, but for EVERY year prior that did not have the opportunity!

So, here’s your notice, my lovely friends! If you had a session with me in 2020-2024 now’s the time to find your favourite image and think about why it’s your fave! I will begin accepting entries later this week, and because I still have four more sessions to go this year and want to give everyone an equal opportunity, entries will be collected until midnight on December 31st. The contest will launch with the New Year on January 1st and will run for one week.

As always, if you had more than one session with me in that time, you get to pick one from each session to enter!

Documentary Lifestyle Newborn Sessions | North Bay & Barrie Newborn Photographer

Lifestyle newborn sessions like this one allow us to document those early days of your new baby’s life, freezing moments in time for you to cherish forever. These sessions are available in the North Bay area at a discounted price point, OR in the comfort of your own home in Barrie, Midland, Penetanguishene, Gravenhurst or Huntsville.

These sessions are best done while baby is between 5-21 days of age, and are best booked while you are still expecting (although if baby has arrived and you’d like to book, I can accommodate last minute requests, so don’t be afraid to reach out!)

Documentary Lifestyle sessions are also ideal for those families who have missed that first-few-weeks window of new baby’s life for whatever reason, and now have an older baby but would still like to capture this fleeting time.

One of the most common inquiries I receive is “do you travel for newborn sessions?” Over the years since I moved away from Barrie, I have received countless messages telling me that I need to come back to photograph a family’s new baby. I’m so excited to finally say that this is a possibility!

Barrie Portrait Sessions 2023 | Family & Child Photographer

Once upon a time, I lived in Barrie. My business was born there, and it was there where it grew to be what it is today. When I moved away in 2019, I vowed to come back to see whoever wanted to see me for portraits at least once each year for as long as I could.

This year, I’m able to make it back just once, and there are still a few time slots available while I’m in town! 🙂

WHEN? Sunday August 20th (Available Appointment times at 5:15pm and 7:30pm remaining) & Monday August 21st at 7am.

WHERE? Due to backdrop variety and rain cover in the event of inclement weather, these sessions will be held at Sunnidale Park in Barrie.
