It is with a heavy heart that I’ve made the decision to temporarily close the newborn portion of my business until the pandemic is over. I’ve thought long and hard about officially doing this for a while, and right now with the number of cases and hospitalizations increasing, as well as news of new mutated strains, I just don’t personally feel comfortable handling brand new babies, even with precautions.
I know that there are still plenty of other photographers who will continue to offer this service (once lockdown measures are lifted) during the pandemic, and that’s perfectly okay too. If they feel that they are calm and confident enough to move forward safely, then I’m happy that new parents will still have options to choose from. Unfortunately, I am too nervous, and I’m a huge believer in the transfer of energy and emotions, and I know that there’s a good likelihood that my own situational nervous energy would change the environment, process, and end result of my newborn sessions at this time. It breaks my heart, but for me, this is the most responsible decision I can make at this time to protect my littlest clients.
Anyone who knows me, knows that newborns are my speciality. They’re my most loved genre of photography that I could ever do, and so this closure is TEMPORARY, until the pandemic is declared over. Who knows when that will be. All I know, is that one day in the future, you will see images of beautiful wee squishy newborns again, I promise!
Once lockdowns are lifted, my doors will still be open for any session where I can physically distance myself from my clients as much as possible, and I can’t wait to start seeing you all again!
Thank you all for your understanding and support.
A while back, I had the opportunity to meeting a glowing mom, expecting her second baby, and her beautiful little family. I am always super excited to work with clients for both a maternity and a newborn session, as it gives me the opportunity for some awesome Before/After Maternity/Newborn portraits! They arrived for their maternity session at my studio (now located in Callander) with a very typical, busy two year old son, who was full of energy AND smiles for me! A few weeks later, baby Nova arrived, and they returned for their newborn session, which turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Big brother was still wired for beans, and his sibling portraits actually turned out pretty funny, but since we got them even remotely close to one another, looking in the direction of the camera, and smiling, we just rolled with it! Sometimes we have to throw our expectations out the window when it comes to posing toddlers with their new siblings! lol!
A little update that my new studio in Callander is now nearly complete! Just a few finishing touches to complete and I will be in there shooting up a storm! I’ll be ready for newborn sessions as early as next week. If you’re interested in securing your newborn session, I have a special promo coming for the next FIVE people who book! Until I’m ready to release those details to the public, feel free to Contact Me to find out! 🙂
Little Noah and his adorable family were my very first session of 2020. I can’t think of a better way to have started my year! His session was a sort of hybrid lifestyle/classic newborn session, which included some posed images as well as many candid ones. I’m in love with the resulting gallery, but I think I’m even MORE in love with his Memories in Motion Film (which are now available as an added upgrade to sessions for a limited time introductory price of $200+hst)
Studio newborn sessions are going to be available in my brand new Callander Photography Studio within the next 1-2 weeks, and I am SO EXCITED! I’ve had many inquiries for packages and pricing lately, so if you’ve been curious about booking a session for yourself, you can find my packages by clicking through to my pricing page here. I’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have, so feel free to Contact Me at any time. 🙂
For now, please enjoy this sweet film and images from Noah’s newborn session. Thanks for visiting!
**Enjoy with your sound on, for the best viewing experience** 🙂
I had the opportunity to meet Claire and her lovely family back in November for her studio style newborn session. She was originally scheduled to come in to my studio for her session, but because of serious construction delays, I brought my little mobile studio to her home instead, and the show went on! 🙂 She was a dream to work with, and I was able to get a short, quick little Memories in Motion Film to help her parents remember just how little bitty she was in those first, fleeting days of her life.
My studio will be done in the next two weeks, now, and I cannot WAIT to start seeing aaalll the newborns, babies, families, kiddos AND pets in it as soon as my doors officially open! Keep your eyes peeled for grand opening door crasher deals! The first one will be at pricing that I have never offered before and will never offer again after this event, and I’m SO EXCITED! 😀 😀 😀
For now, enjoy some beautiful images and an adorable film from Claire’s studio newborn session! 😉
**Watch aaalll the way to the end (sound on) for an adorable outtake!**
The only thing I love more than holding the Client Appreciation Contest each year is ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS! This year, the participation was amazing, as always! Thank you to EVERYONE for your support through the years and to all of my clients last year who made this contest possible – without further delay, THE WINNERS!
GRAND PRIZE WINNER – Contestant No. 19 – Lindsey Jones
Drawn by random.org, Lindsey has won an All Inclusive Creative Portrait session (worth $960), which includes her portrait session, all high resolution digital files (between 35-60) on USB with print release in both colour and black and white as well as 4×6 colour reference prints. Congratulations Lindsey!!!
SECONDARY Prize 1 – Contestant No. 009 – Ashley Tran
This prize was chosen by our Grand Prize winner. Lindsey chose Ashley’s entry because it resonated with her on so many levels – having a young child in the house with a new baby, undergoing renovations, unfinished rooms and so many unknowns (I can relate to this one too!). Ashley has won a $200 Gift Certificate to use towards her next portrait session. Congratulations Ashley!
Secondary Prize 2 – Contestant No. 006– Ryan Shevalier
This prize was determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Ryan’s adorable image received a grand total of 90 votes as of closing time on January 21! He has won a 16×20” Gallery Wrap Canvas of his entry. Congratulations Ryan!
Secondary Prize 3 – Contestant No. 009 – Ashley Tran (Maybe Ashley should buy a lottery ticket today?) 😛
This prize was also determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Ashley’s photo of her two beautiful girls received 80 votes. She has won a 16×20” Mounted Wall print of her entry. Congratulations Ashley!
Secondary Prize 4 – Contestant No. 017 – Stephanie Chivers
This prize was also determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Stephanie’s photo of her beautiful twin daughters received 77 votes. She has won a $100 gift card to use towards her next session in 2020. Congratulations Stephanie!
Thanks again everyone! Congrats to all the winners! Looking forward to a great 2020! And remember, if you know someone who lives in North Bay, or surrounding areas, it would make me SO happy for you to spread the word that I am now located in their area. Rebuilding a business from scratch in a brand new town is hard work, and I am so incredibly grateful for all of the help and referrals you’ve all been sending me so far! I love you guys!
Late last year, I had the pleasure of meeting sweet little newborn Ava and her family in her Grandparents’ home in North Bay for a lifestyle newborn session. As you can see from these images, lifestyle newborn sessions take place in your home, using your surroundings as your backdrop; setting the scene for real, candid, raw emotion in your portraits. This session also included a Memories in Motion Film (LOVE these!)
I will continue offering Lifestyle Sessions in client’s homes, as I love them dearly. I have to share some exciting news, though! MY STUDIO in Callander is going to be complete and ready for business SOON! Like in the next 2 weeks(ish) soon! I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself! I will be offering a bunch of Grand Opening Promotional Mini Events – if you don’t want to miss them, I highly suggest subscribing to this blog (at the bottom of this website) or following my Facebook Page, as I will post here as soon as booking is available for those discounted events!
For now, please enjoy Ava’s Lifestyle Newborn Session!
And here are some of our favourite images from her session!
I am SO.FAR.BEHIND on sharing some of my favourite newborn sessions! I met with this little lady a while back and she was a total gem to work with. Slept like a dream, and when she did wake, she gave me the most hilarious series of faces ever!
My studio completion has been delayed for yet another month, due to unforeseen construction circumstances. I’m DYING to have it set up and running again! But, for now, I am still bringing my little mobile studio to client’s homes in the North Bay Region for studio style newborn and cake smash session, and Lifestyle Portrait Sessions are becoming more popular as well!
If you’re interested in booking a session, please Contact Me and we can set something up!
There are some newborn sessions where babies are so sleepy, I never see the whites of their eyes. Then, there are some newborn sessions where I’m given the sweetest show of all of the most adorable facial expressions you can imagine – Levi’s session was one of these! He came in to my Studio super sleepy, and slept through all of his family and sibling portraits. When the time came for his solo segment, he was more interested in my camera and his surroundings than the backs of his eyelids. 😛 This gallery should be reassurance to parents that no matter how your baby decides to be during your session, we’re getting beautiful portraits no matter what! 🙂
If you’re expecting in December, and live in the North Bay area, my current pricing includes TWENTY digital files (twice as many as usual) AND a complimentary Memories in Motion Film (See examples of Studio Style and Lifestyle Examples). All sessions taking place in December will take place in the comfort of your own home (even the Studio Style sessions)! By January, 2020, my brand new Callander Photography Studio should be up and running and ready for all of your smiling faces! I am accepting newborn bookings from January to March at this time as well, and I will honour my current newborn promotional pricing, which includes the 20 digital files of your choice when you book your session in advance, as newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting.
Please contact me for more information, or to book your session!
Clean. Crisp. Classic. When this sweet little man’s parents requested classic black and white with dark wood accents for his studio newborn session, I KNEW it would be one of my favourites! I love pops of colour and natural organic tones, but every once in a while I’m so excited when I get to do a purely classic session like this one. This particular session was a dream… he slept when I needed him to sleep, and he woke up at the end to capture some adorable images of all of his many little faces.
Did you know that newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting? I like to see babies in the first 5-14 days of life to ensure the sleepy, squishy poses that you see in my portfolio. I typically see newborns in my Studio, for sessions like this, but as my current studio is still under construction, with an expected grand opening of January, 2020, I am currently taking my mobile studio to clients homes in the North Bay Area!
If you would like more information on newborn sessions, you can find Pricing HERE. If you want to chat with me to make sure that I’m the best fit for you and your family, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Right before I made the move to Callander from Barrie, I received an inquiry for maternity and newborn portraits from a brand new client who I knew I was going to hit it off with right away. Not only could I tell that this Mama had my kind of sense of humour, but we had something else in common that I actually found myself yelling out “NO WAY!” to nobody in particular as I sat all alone in my old studio in front of my computer. (And no, it wasn’t the fact that both of our husband’s are named “Brian”…) 😛
“My old photographer sent me your way” she said. “PS. I noticed your new address as of May 30th…This was OUR first home before we sold it to the people you would have purchased it from!”
I couldn’t wait to meet this family, so when that finally happened for their maternity session in Callander in September, I shot their session, and then we all came back to my new house (their old house) where we chatted on the front lawn until the sun went down. They booked their newborn session shortly after that, and I think it was pretty nostalgic for them to have it happen in the same place where all of their previous sessions had taken place before me.
Their newborn session took place in October, after baby Hannah arrived. The session was fabulous, and I thank this family profusely for putting up with the sounds of construction during their session that are continuing around here even today (thankfully they had a VERY cooperative newborn!) 😛 Their newborn session was the very last one that I did here before construction noise and debris became too much to continue having clients until the addition is complete (in case you wondered why I’m not offering indoor Christmas Minis this year, that’s why…) For the remainder of 2019, I will be visiting clients in their homes for their newborn sessions (both studio and lifestyle varieties), and I have a few spots left in December. Newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting, so if this sounds like you and you would like to snag some space in my December calendar, please CONTACT ME! 🙂
Here are some of our favourite images from Miss Hannah’s Newborn Session – as well as a little Memories in Motion Film to help her and her parents remember those early days. 😉 Enjoy!

Amazing photographer, some of our best family photos are from Stephanie.
