SECONDARY Prize 1 – Contestant No. 009 – Ashley Tran
This prize was chosen by our Grand Prize winner. Lindsey chose Ashley’s entry because it resonated with her on so many levels – having a young child in the house with a new baby, undergoing renovations, unfinished rooms and so many unknowns (I can relate to this one too!). Ashley has won a $200 Gift Certificate to use towards her next portrait session. Congratulations Ashley!
Secondary Prize 2 – Contestant No. 006– Ryan Shevalier
This prize was determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Ryan’s adorable image received a grand total of 90 votes as of closing time on January 21! He has won a 16×20” Gallery Wrap Canvas of his entry. Congratulations Ryan!

Ava’s Lifestyle Newborn Session | North Bay & Callander Newborn Photographer
Late last year, I had the pleasure of meeting sweet little newborn Ava and her family in her Grandparents’ home in North Bay for a lifestyle newborn session. As you can see from these images, lifestyle newborn sessions take place in your home, using your surroundings as your backdrop; setting the scene for real, candid, raw emotion in your portraits. This session also included a Memories in Motion Film (LOVE these!)
I will continue offering Lifestyle Sessions in client’s homes, as I love them dearly. I have to share some exciting news, though! MY STUDIO in Callander is going to be complete and ready for business SOON! Like in the next 2 weeks(ish) soon! I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself! I am SO.FAR.BEHIND on sharing some of my favourite newborn sessions! I met with this little lady a while back and she was a total gem to work with. Slept like a dream, and when she did wake, she gave me the most hilarious series of faces ever!

Welcome Levi | Callander & North Bay Newborn Photographer
There are some newborn sessions where babies are so sleepy, I never see the whites of their eyes. Then, there are some newborn sessions where I’m given the sweetest show of all of the most adorable facial expressions you can imagine – Levi’s session was one of these! He came in to my Studio super sleepy, and slept through all of his family and sibling portraits. When the time came for his solo segment, he was more interested in my camera and his surroundings than the backs of his eyelids. 😛 This gallery should be reassurance to parents that no matter how your baby decides to be during your session, we’re getting beautiful portraits no matter what! 🙂
If you’re expecting in December, and live in the North Bay area, my current pricing includes TWENTY digital files (twice as many as usual) AND a complimentary Memories in Motion Film (See examples of Studio Style and Lifestyle Examples). All sessions taking place in December will take place in the comfort of your own home (even the Studio Style sessions)! By January, 2020, my brand new Callander Photography Studio should be up and running and ready for all of your smiling faces! I am accepting newborn bookings from January to March at this time as well, and I will honour my current newborn promotional pricing, which includes the 20 digital files of your choice when you book your session in advance, as newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting.

Welcome Baby K | North Bay & Callander Newborn Photographer
Clean. Crisp. Classic. When this sweet little man’s parents requested classic black and white with dark wood accents for his studio newborn session, I KNEW it would be one of my favourites! I love pops of colour and natural organic tones, but every once in a while I’m so excited when I get to do a purely classic session like this one. This particular session was a dream… he slept when I needed him to sleep, and he woke up at the end to capture some adorable images of all of his many little faces.
Did you know that newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting? I like to see babies in the first 5-14 days of life to ensure the sleepy, squishy poses that you see in my portfolio. I typically see newborns in my Studio, for sessions like this, but as my current studio is still under construction, with an expected grand opening of January, 2020, I am currently taking my mobile studio to clients homes in the North Bay Area!

Welcome Hannah | North Bay & Callander Newborn Photographer
Right before I made the move to Callander from Barrie, I received an inquiry for maternity and newborn portraits from a brand new client who I knew I was going to hit it off with right away. Not only could I tell that this Mama had my kind of sense of humour, but we had something else in common that I actually found myself yelling out “NO WAY!” to nobody in particular as I sat all alone in my old studio in front of my computer. (And no, it wasn’t the fact that both of our husband’s are named “Brian”…) 😛
“My old photographer sent me your way” she said. “PS. I noticed your new address as of May 30th…This was OUR first home before we sold it to the people you would have purchased it from!”
I couldn’t wait to meet this family, so when that finally happened for their maternity session in Callander in September, I shot their session, and then we all came back to my new house (their old house) where we chatted on the front lawn until the sun went down. They booked their newborn session shortly after that, and I think it was pretty nostalgic for them to have it happen in the same place where all of their previous sessions had taken place before me.
Their newborn session took place in October, after baby Hannah arrived. The session was fabulous, and I thank this family profusely for putting up with the sounds of construction during their session that are continuing around here even today (thankfully they had a VERY cooperative newborn!) 😛 Their newborn session was the very last one that I did here before construction noise and debris became too much to continue having clients until the addition is complete (in case you wondered why I’m not offering indoor Christmas Minis this year, that’s why…) For the remainder of 2019, I will be visiting clients in their homes for their newborn sessions (both studio and lifestyle varieties), and I have a few spots left in December. Newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting, so if this sounds like you and you would like to snag some space in my December calendar, please CONTACT ME! 🙂

As promised, here is the second of two newborn blogs today! I first met this little lady back before Easter, 2018. Her parents had waited and hoped for her for a long time and you could feel the absolute love that this new little family had for each other when they entered my studio! Over the course of the following year, I was honoured to watch this sweet girl grow as she learned to sit and crawl…capturing her first Christmas portraits in a dress made especially for the occasion by her grandmother made my heart feel happy. The “special-ness” of these little moments is not lost on me, when I’m entrusted to be someones family photographer. I take my job very seriously, as these are fleeting times that we can’t get back. And when I say I take my job seriously, that means that behind the scenes, I’m working seriously hard to make sure that this experience is enjoyable and memorable for you and that the end product will be cherished for a lifetime… when you meet me for your actual session though, I’m a total goofball… I sometimes worry what people are thinking as we walk back to our cars! LOL!!! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to get genuine smiles! 😉

I fell of my blogging wagon! That means that I’ll have to give you TWO sweet squishy newborn blogs today instead of just one! Today, I’ll take you back to last summer… I received an email from the most fabulous husband ever, looking to buy his wife a maternity AND newborn session for her birthday. He recognized that she was the one always behind the lens, and wanted to give her a proper chance to be in front of it for once, to capture this fleeting and very special time in their lives (um, husband of the year award right there!)
So not long later, I met with these awesome folks for their maternity session, and then their newborn session, and then more recently, I saw little Ethan again for his Sitter Milestone session and O.M.G guys… he’s ADORABLE! I can’t believe I haven’t shared these sessions yet.

Everley | North Bay/Callander Newborn & Family Photographer
Oh, do I have a blog post for you today! I swear, I thought I’d shared these sessions when they happened (ages ago now!) But it appears I did not! I’ve got to admit, I’m feeling a little sentimental looking through all of these sessions that I haven’t shared yet. I’m very quickly realizing that some of the best friendships I’ve stumbled across over the years first began as clients. These fine folks are a perfect example of that!
Many years ago, before they were even married (when I was still offering wedding photography… I no longer do), I was contacted by a potential client who wanted to “try me out” before committing to hiring me for something as important as a wedding day. I met up with them not long later for a family session, and the rest is history! I’ve since photographed pretty much every major life event for these guys, and in the process, my family has fallen in love with their family. 😛
So today, as I contemplate the fact that in 29 more days we will be moving to Callander, I would like to say THANK YOU to this family for their years of loyalty to my business and valued friendship to my family. Here is Everley’s story!
Back in the Fall of 2017, I was entrusted with a little envelope that held the secret that every parent is usually DYING to find out (whether baby is a boy or a girl!) Mama dropped the envelope off to me and I set to work, cutting out thousands of little pink (and blue, to fool them when I showed them the bags) pieces of confetti, which I mixed with sparkles for a fun reveal. The absolute BEST part about this gender reveal was Spencer’s reaction to finding out he was having ANOTHER baby sister!
A few months later, I was honoured to capture some of my favourite maternity images of all time for this family! By then, Spencer was starting to come around to the idea that he was going to have another baby sister…
By the time this little gal arrived, I was about a week or two away from moving out of our old home and into our current home (I know, I know, I move a lot…I promise this move is the LAST move for a long while!) Anyhow, because my studio was all packed up in boxes, I decided to pack up what I could and head on over to them for an in-home session, which turned out to be a mish-mash of my usual studio style, infused with some lifestyle elements using their home as a backdrop. I loved how it turned out! And also, check out how SMITTEN Spencer was with his brand new baby sister! My heart melted!
Before we all knew it, time (as it does) flew right on by and we were planning for Everley’s first birthday portraits! Her parents requested lavender and teal on dark grey and I LOOOVED how it turned out! Anyhow, I’ve mentioned a few times this week, but I will again for anyone who missed it… I am relocating to Callander, Ontario, as of May 30, 2019. I will be accepting bookings in the North Bay/Callander area as of June, 2019.
