I’m so excited to announce the winners for the 2017 Client Appreciation Contest! It was a FABULOUS contest this year with more entries than years past and amazing participation in voting! It was so heartwarming to see contestants voting on entries other than their own as well… I really do have some pretty amazing clients!

This prize was chosen by our Grand Prize winner. Kerri chose Maureen’s adorable, bright-eyed little dude Wesley! Maureen has won a $200 Gift Certificate to use towards her next portrait session. Congratulations Maureen!
Secondary Prize 2 – Contestant No. 1– Tagan Caplan
This prize was determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Tagan’s maternity image received a grand total of 110 votes! She has won a 16×20” Gallery Wrap Canvas of her entry. Congratulations Tagan!

This prize was also determined by the number of Facebook votes received on their entry. Carlee’s photo of her sweet little family received 105 votes. She has won a 16×20” Mounted Wall print of her entry. Congratulations Carlee!

I look forward to this moment from the very beginning of the year each year! There is nothing I love more than being able to host the Client Appreciation Contest as a big huge “Thank You” to every one of the clients who chooses to hire me each year. You could have chosen any one of a massive quantity of other photographers in this area, but you didn’t. You chose me, and for that, I am truly thankful!

I need to start blogging more often! I have so many beautiful images that deserve to be shared. Maybe that will be my New Years Resolution – BLOG! Anyhow, I will start with Violet. I met her back in the summer time and she was as sweet as could be! She had the most amazing little squishy baby lips ever!
So often, I am asked when the best time is to book a newborn session. My answer is – while you’re still expecting. Usually in the second trimester is when folks contact me to secure their newborn timeslot. We book your timeslot using your due date, usually approximately 7-10 days after. If baby arrives early or late, then parents are in touch with me to reschedule accordingly, but booking early ensures that I have at least 3 timeslots saved for you in my calendar (which is particularly important during peak busy season). I find that I see a lot of babies in February, June, and between September-December, so if you find yourself expecting during those time periods and know you want to secure a newborn session, please contact me as soon as possible to book.

Sweet & Simple First Birthday Portraits | Barrie Baby Photographer
Some people love bright and bold colours to celebrate their little one’s first birthday, and others prefer a more sweet and simple approach. A while back, I was in HEAVEN when this little lady’s Mama told me that she wanted a very simple, all white set with a single clear/white balloon… and when she brought in this amazingly simple cake and fresh greens to accent the set, I was in LOVE!
We’re moving in to that time of year when newborns, babies in their first year, and little one’s celebrating first birthdays dominate my calendar… if you have a little one celebrating a birthday over the Winter, and would like to recreate this beautiful, timeless, and simple set to commemorate their first birthdays, please contact me soon (especially if you’re looking for something in February or April, my schedule is filling surprisingly quickly for those months!)

WIN A FAMILY SESSION | Barrie Photographer
Everyone wants to win something, and I don’t often give away free creative portrait sessions, but I’m desperately trying to raise as much money as I can for a fantastic cause! 🙂
I am so proud to be part of a network of amazing photographers in this area who, each year, donate their time and talent to help raise money, toys, and food for those less fortunate.
My business model is unique in this region, being one of only a few professional photographers who offer Custom Pet Portraiture. As such, my “Giving Back” service to my community is to raise as much money as I can each year to a deserving local animal rescue.
This year, I have chosen to support Street Cats Rescue. Of the original 42 timeslots that were available on Saturday November 25th, 21 still remain. I want to fill them ALL so that I can give as much as possible to this amazing organization!
So, I’m offering a wee incentive to fill those remaining timeslots! I am going to be giving away TWO Creative Portrait packages (valued at $375+hst each) to be used in 2018!

Studio Family Sessions | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
Well, it’s that time of year when my outdoor work wraps up and I move the show into the studio for the Winter months. I just did my very last outdoor family session of the year tonight, which is just as well because it was COLD out there, and me and cold don’t really mix. 😛
Family sessions during the colder months are for those clients who adore a more clean, classic portrait. They might be for you if you’re looking for a studio-style family portrait that will stand the test of time above your fireplace and on your walls. My studio can accommodate families up to 7 individuals in size, and pets are always welcome!
2018 Pricing is now in effect, so please feel free to have a peek around this website, and Contact Me if you have any questions at all or would like to book your session! I book Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm, but do have the odd evening timeslot available for those of you who cannot make it during weekday hours. 🙂

2nd Annual Pet Photo Event Fundraiser | Barrie Pet Photographer
If you’re a pet owner, you know that a pet is more than just a random animal roaming around your house. They are your friend and companion, they know when you’re feeling sad, upset, or scared; they motivate you and love you without judgment. Their mere presence is therapeutic.
My love for animals and intense desire to help other people prompted the launch of The Raindance Photography Pet Division, so that everyone can have beautiful heirloom portraits of their beloved fur babies too!
This year, a new puppy joined our family. As a result, I spent an astronomical amount of time at PetSmart… If you’ve ever been to PetSmart, you’ve probably seen those cages full of sweet kitties in the Adoption Room, who stare soulfully into your eyes, just tugging at the heart strings. If my daughter wasn’t allergic, I probably would have brought home at least 30 of them by now, but since I can’t, this year I wanted to hold this fundraiser in support of Street Cats (one of the amazing rescues that has cats for adoption at PetSmart.)
I am excited to be holding the 2nd annual all-day mini event devoted to Pets only! Every single penny raised will be donated to the Street Cats Rescue to help them care for all of the furry friends who are currently waiting for their forever homes.

Street Cats Rescue is currently in need of financial donations as well as donations of the following items:
- Kitty Litter, clumping
- Food (kibble and canned)
- Cat Carrying Cages
- Paper towels
- Javex, dish soap, laundry soap, garbage bags, white vinegar
If you bring in one of these items in addition to your $40 Creative Fee, you will automatically receive an 8×10 print of your pet as well! Why did I choose Street Cats this year? Because they’re awesome, they work tirelessly for the benefit of these animals, and they deserve our help. Here’s why…
“Street Cats Rescue is a non- profit organization with registered charity status serving Simcoe County and surrounding areas. We are staffed 100% by volunteers, receive no government funding and rely solely on fundraising, donations and community support to continue our work. All money raised goes directly back to the care and comfort of the cats i.e. veterinary bills, rent, heat, hydro, food, supplies, etc.
Street Cats Rescue has a “no kill” policy. We advocate humane euthanasia only for terminally ill animals and/or animals where quality of life has been severely compromised with no hope of improvement.
Street Cats consists of physical shelter as well as a large network of foster homes. In both areas we utilize techniques and protocols that keep illness and stress levels to a minimum. We strive to get to know each cat’s unique personality which makes finding the right adoptive home that much easier. All cats are vet checked, treated for parasites and illness as needed. Prior to adoption each cat is vaccinated, fixed and microchipped. We advocate pediatric spay/neuter so even kittens are fixed prior to adoption.
Our adoption screening process consists of an application/interview. Our adoption protocols are designed to “put the right cat into the right home.” We are not driven by adoption numbers but rather we endeavour to ensure each adoption is a “good” one.
Street Cats also advocates and practices TNR (trap, neuter, return) rescue methods for feral cats.”

I am SO excited that my new studio is finally slated for completion just in time for this event! The 7th Annual Studio Christmas Mini Event is now open for booking! This year’s backdrop will feature a pure, white set with a tree and beautiful fireplace with timeless decoration that is sure to suit anyone’s home decor. These sessions are fabulous for Holiday Cards and Christmas gifts as well.

I loooooooved this session! This session is the PERFECT example of how wardrobe choice can turn your session into something MAGICAL! When these guys showed up to our location and stepped out of their vehicle, I just about died with excitement when I saw what they were wearing!
