Ava’s Lifestyle Newborn Session | North Bay & Callander Newborn Photographer
Late last year, I had the pleasure of meeting sweet little newborn Ava and her family in her Grandparents’ home in North Bay for a lifestyle newborn session. As you can see from these images, lifestyle newborn sessions take place in your home, using your surroundings as your backdrop; setting the scene for real, candid, raw emotion in your portraits. This session also included a Memories in Motion Film (LOVE these!)
I will continue offering Lifestyle Sessions in client’s homes, as I love them dearly. I have to share some exciting news, though! MY STUDIO in Callander is going to be complete and ready for business SOON! Like in the next 2 weeks(ish) soon! I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself! Winter Portraits | North Bay & Callander Photographer
I know, I know… It’s kind of chilly in the winter and the sun doesn’t shine a whole lot. You know what though? It’s SO BEAUTIFUL! Where we live, here in the North Bay area, is so so so beautiful. Maybe it’s because I’m new to the area that I’m seeing all of this glorious beauty still… or maybe I’m crazy? LOL! Either way, if your family is the outdoorsy type that loves winter, why not consider some Winter Portraits?

My little Snow Queen rocked it for me yesterday – I couldn’t pass up shooting in the beautiful falling snow, so I told her what I had in mind and she was aaaallll over the opportunity to be my little model! Out to the back yard we went (she wore winter boots, and changed into the heels when we were in position). We didn’t even move from the one spot we were in and the end result was so many beautiful pictures that I want to wallpaper my house with! Should probably get my boy child out there for a matching set so he doesn’t feel left out… 😉

2019 Client Appreciation Contest | North Bay & Callander Photographer
I look forward to this moment from the very beginning of the year each year! There is nothing I love more than being able to host the Client Appreciation Contest as a big huge “Thank You” to every one of the clients who chooses to hire me each year. You could have chosen any one of a massive quantity of other photographers in this area, but you didn’t. You chose me, and for that, I am truly thankful!
So, in appreciation, each year I host this contest where you have an opportunity to win everything from an entirely free session to gift cards, canvas, and a mounted print!

Secondary Prize 1 – $200 Gift Certificate to use towards any Raindance Photography service in 2020. I’m always really excited about Secondary Prize 1, as it is chosen by the Grand prize winner! The Grand Prize winner will be required to go through the entries and select which one they think most deserves this prize!

When Will Voting Begin?
The Contest Album will be uploaded to Facebook on Tuesday January 7, 2020, as soon as entries begin rolling in. Voting will run until January 21, 2020, at midnight. Winners will be announced on Wednesday January 22nd, via the Raindance Photography Blog.
Wow. Anyone else looking back at their 2019 right now wondering what the heck just happened? Seriously though, WHAT a year it has been for me and my little photography business! I generally pride myself in my ability to keep my personal and work lives separate, but that became a pretty difficult thing to do this year, as I packed up my life, family, and business and moved to a whole new town, where we set straight to building an addition on our new home – transforming it into both a studio and multigenerational living space (yes folks, my parents are moving in!) Looking back, I can only sit here, biting my fingernails just hoping that my stress levels weren’t too obvious to my clients! LOL! 😛
It isn’t easy, saying farewell to a loyal client base and rebuilding a business all over again in a new place. I quickly learned that it feels a little like the first day of school as a child all over again… except now I’m a grown up and have forgotten how socially awkward I am at these things.
As challenging as 2019 was, on so many levels, I am grateful for the opportunity I have been given to meet some amazing new people and begin great new friendships along the way. Thank you, to everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. I know it’s tough to choose to hire a photographer who’s in the midst of such profound personal and professional change, but so many of you still chose me, and for that, I am truly grateful. 🙂
I am excited to move forward and continue growing my business in the Callander/North Bay area in 2020, as my studio chugs slowly towards completion. I have so many mini events planned and will have an awesome Grand Opening Offering as soon as my new space is ready for business! In the meantime, my little mobile studio is busy travelling to clients in their homes for both studio-style and lifestyle sessions.
To my fabulous Barrie clients, I will be releasing my 2020 Availability for your area next week for early-bird booking, watch for it!

Sweet & Funny Newborn Faces | North Bay & Callander Newborn Photographer
I love every part of my job – photographing excited parents as they await their new bundle, families as they snuggle together for their portraits, chasing kids around outside for that perfect candid action shot, energetic pets, curious toddlers, and most of all, brand-spanking-new-babies with all of their sweet newness. Most of the newborn images you’ll see me post are the sweetly posed, fast asleep, curled up angelic shots that all parents come to see me for. However, hidden within MOST of their galleries, are those sweet and sometimes hilarious awake shots that the parents usually end up loving more than anything else!
I’ve put together a compilation of some of my favourite little faces from over the years… They range from eyes wide with wonder, serious FOMO (fear of missing out), pure bliss and happiness, excitement, sweet cheekiness… sometimes they’ve lost control of their eyes (lol), their little tongues, their arms… and sometimes they’re plotting ways to kill me with their eyeballs with looks of sheer disgust and hatred. ALL of these faces make my job just that much more enjoyable, and so I wanted to share them all with you today in case you needed a smile.

I am SO.FAR.BEHIND on sharing some of my favourite newborn sessions! I met with this little lady a while back and she was a total gem to work with. Slept like a dream, and when she did wake, she gave me the most hilarious series of faces ever!
My studio completion has been delayed for yet another month, due to unforeseen construction circumstances. I’m DYING to have it set up and running again! But, for now, I am still bringing my little mobile studio to client’s homes in the North Bay Region for studio style newborn and cake smash session, and Lifestyle Portrait Sessions are becoming more popular as well!

Welcome Levi | Callander & North Bay Newborn Photographer
There are some newborn sessions where babies are so sleepy, I never see the whites of their eyes. Then, there are some newborn sessions where I’m given the sweetest show of all of the most adorable facial expressions you can imagine – Levi’s session was one of these! He came in to my Studio super sleepy, and slept through all of his family and sibling portraits. When the time came for his solo segment, he was more interested in my camera and his surroundings than the backs of his eyelids. 😛 This gallery should be reassurance to parents that no matter how your baby decides to be during your session, we’re getting beautiful portraits no matter what! 🙂
If you’re expecting in December, and live in the North Bay area, my current pricing includes TWENTY digital files (twice as many as usual) AND a complimentary Memories in Motion Film (See examples of Studio Style and Lifestyle Examples). All sessions taking place in December will take place in the comfort of your own home (even the Studio Style sessions)! By January, 2020, my brand new Callander Photography Studio should be up and running and ready for all of your smiling faces! I am accepting newborn bookings from January to March at this time as well, and I will honour my current newborn promotional pricing, which includes the 20 digital files of your choice when you book your session in advance, as newborn sessions are best booked while you’re still expecting.
