I have been a member of the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) since 2012. Twice a year, they hold an International Image Competition, where some of the most talented Child Photographers in the world enter just a few of their very best portraits. I have entered every competition since 2012, never with the intention of actually winning, but because with my entry, I receive numerical scores and critiques, which help me learn and grow as a professional artist.
This week, the results from the Winter 2017 Competition were released and I was so very honoured and thrilled to have one of my images receive a Recognition of Merit in the Family category! 2017 Calendar Announcements | Barrie Professional Photographer
Hey everyone!
I feel like I’ve been MIA FOREVER! Our family just finished moving (literally around the corner) and I’ve been buried underneath boxes, boxes, and MORE BOXES! I wanted to take a break from cleaning and unpacking to release my Spring and Summer calendar for booking, since I happened to glance out my window and notice the SUN, and it got me all excited for outdoor sessions once the weather warms up… this time of year is almost magical for me, after being cooped up all winter, limited to studio work, I begin daydreaming of that beautiful summer haze of the golden, setting sun… the warm breeze (and heck, even the mosquitoes, why not!?)

Mommy & Me Promotional Event:
This years’ Mommy & Me Event will be held outdoors during Golden Hour! These sessions are appropriate for mothers and their children (of all ages!)

Rustic Family Promotional Event:
We’re trying something a wee bit different this year! I typically don’t offer family “mini” sessions with the exception of Drysdales in the Fall because I feel too rushed to get through a whole family in only 20-30 minutes. I ALWAYS have requests from families for portraits on a rustic barn board backdrop that I have here in my studio (which is waaaay too small to fit an actual family on, lol) So, this year I have secured an actual barn to use for a rustic themed family event! I CANNOT WAIT for these sessions!
These are FULL FAMILY SESSIONS at a deeply discounted price – Only 4 timeslots available.

Sunday July 9th, 2017 – 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm

The office will be closed for Vacation August 5-13 AND August 26-September 5, 2017.

Giving Back Contest | Barrie Photographer
If anyone were to ask me what it is about my job that I find so incredible, I would tell them that, hands down, it is the ability to bring my clients happiness. To make people laugh and smile, both during their session, and every time they look at their images after that.
It makes my heart so happy to see the emotion and joy that photography can bring to people and their families. I have experienced professional photography on a personal level and have been reduced to tears of overwhelming love, joy, and appreciation when I look back on these precious moments captured forever in a photograph.
I wish that everyone in the world could experience this same feeling.
Recently, my good friend Nikki, who is an incredibly talented Professional Photographer at Nicole Kathlyn Photography, held her annual Giving Back Contest. She received a record 112 entries, and I knew immediately that I needed to step up and do my part to give back to the community as well.
So, with all that being said, welcome to the 1st Annual Giving Back Contest. We all know that our community is filled with some amazing individuals who have fallen on hard times… maybe they’re battling an illness, have experienced a life-changing event, give selflessly of themselves to others, or just can’t seem to get ahead no matter how hard they try…

The Matthews Family | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
The week before school started in September, I met up with this fabulous family to update their family portraits. I feel like when I say “update their portraits” it sounds so impersonal… technically, that’s what I’m doing… but what I’m REALLY setting out to do is more magical than that… Every portrait session I go in to, I’m going in with the goal of capturing the essence of a person’s soul – the deep connections that each person has with other members of their family… the LOVE that runs throughout a family unit. I LOVE being able to connect with each child to draw out their true spirit, to capture it forever in a photograph (and anyone who’s ever worked with me knows that my inner goofball comes out to make this happen!) 😛
There is nothing more special for me than sitting down with clients a few weeks after their session and watching their reactions as they see their images for the first time. I’ve seen tears of joy, laughter, and life-changing revelations when parents see just how their children SEE them for the first time. Sometimes, we are so caught up in the race of every day life that we forget to slow down and see how those little eyes see us, as parents. Photographs freeze those fleeting moments for you to cherish for a lifetime. Those moments are why I am so very passionate about what I do. The Farrell Family | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
I recently photographed this gorgeous family at The Beach here in Barrie. They were the second last session of the summer before school started again, and I couldn’t believe how much the girls had grown over the last year! I have been fortunate enough to be photographing this family for a while now, and have absolutely loved watching them grow!
The weather is starting to change, and I think my remaining days at the beach this year are numbered, so I’m enjoying them while I can! The Falco Family | Barrie Family and Child Beach Photographer
I have had the great privilege of watching this family grow since little Benny was still in his Mama’s belly… he is now TWO! I met up with this family last month to help document Benny’s second birthday as well as update their family portraits. What a crazy day that day was. Just before leaving for the session, we discovered my son’s beloved hamster, Speckles, had gone up to heaven, and during his very hasty but heartfelt funeral (lol) the sky began to darken as the clouds rolled in. Having already needed to reschedule our session once due to the threat of rain, there was no way we were going to let Mother Nature win again! So out we ventured, the temperature dropped and it began to drizzle, and like the troopers they all are, they all gave me their best throughout their session anyway! I love how this gallery turned out and cannot WAIT to see the wall art that we created together up on their walls!

The Kalimootoo Family | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
Back in June, I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely family. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny evening and the girls were so sweet and cooperative. I have been working with Sophie since she was 1, and it has been a pleasure to watch her grow into a beautiful little lady over the years. I am pretty darn excited to continue to document her life as it moves into the next exciting stage of becoming a big sister by this Summer! Sophie is going to be the most phenomenal big sister, and if her little sibling has nearly as much character as she does, I’m in for a real treat! 😉

Summer Family Photo Sessions | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
I have so many fun family photo sessions from last season that I haven’t ever had the opportunity to share, and with the 2016 outdoor season upon us, I thought now was the perfect time to start sharing! I met up with this fun family last summer at The Field for an extended family session. You never know what you’re going to get with little boys of this age as well as a toddler! We had so much fun that night and the end result was some super fun family photos to cherish forever. 🙂

The Falco Family | Barrie Baby, Child, and Family Photographer
I know it’s only March… I know we didn’t really have THAT long of a winter… but I’m about to throw a child-sized tantrum because I want to be outdoors shooting in the gorgeous, comforting warmth of summer! I want to smell flowers and swat away mosquitos, and chase sweaty little children and their families around a field in the setting, golden sunlight because that’s what I LOVE!
Ok… end pity party. 😛 Instead, I will share a favourite session from last Fall with one of my favourite families ever! I’ve been working with them for a very long time, and love every opportunity that I have to capture their awesome personalities!
