Well, it’s that time of year when my outdoor work wraps up and I move the show into the studio for the Winter months. I just did my very last outdoor family session of the year tonight, which is just as well because it was COLD out there, and me and cold don’t really mix. 😛
Family sessions during the colder months are for those clients who adore a more clean, classic portrait. They might be for you if you’re looking for a studio-style family portrait that will stand the test of time above your fireplace and on your walls. My studio can accommodate families up to 7 individuals in size, and pets are always welcome!
2018 Pricing is now in effect, so please feel free to have a peek around this website, and Contact Me if you have any questions at all or would like to book your session! I book Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm, but do have the odd evening timeslot available for those of you who cannot make it during weekday hours. 🙂

Christmas Mini Sessions 2017 | Barrie Photography Studio

7th Annual Studio Christmas Minis | Barrie Child Photographer
I am SO excited that my new studio is finally slated for completion just in time for this event! The 7th Annual Studio Christmas Mini Event is now open for booking! This year’s backdrop will feature a pure, white set with a tree and beautiful fireplace with timeless decoration that is sure to suit anyone’s home decor. These sessions are fabulous for Holiday Cards and Christmas gifts as well.
What are the dates?
Friday November 3, 2017 – 10am-3pm
Saturday November 4, 2017 – 10am-3pm
Monday November 6, 2017 – 10am-3pm
What is the cost?
$150+HST (due on booking) includes:
- 15 minute session
- 3 digital files of your choice with the option to upgrade (earlybird purchase of the entire gallery of digital files is available for a $100 discount, details in booking form).
- Exclusive In-Person Reveal & Order Appointment with 30% discount on all A La Carte print products
*These sessions are for kids, but this year there is an option to add in one quick family photo at the beginning of your session. 🙂

I loooooooved this session! This session is the PERFECT example of how wardrobe choice can turn your session into something MAGICAL! When these guys showed up to our location and stepped out of their vehicle, I just about died with excitement when I saw what they were wearing! Tree Farm Family Sessions | Barrie Family and Child Photographer
It’s that time of year again! Tree Farm Family Minis are now open to the public! There are only TWO timeslots left at this time, so if you want in, act fast!
Sessions are taking place at the Tree Farm in Thornton, Ontario on Saturday September 23rd, 2017. The package this year is the same as last year – $199+HST for your 30 minute session and 5 digital files of your choice delivered via online download. 2017 Fall Family Sessions | Barrie Family Photographer
I know, I know… we’re in the final stretch of Summer Holidays and the last thing you want to hear about is the fact that the leaves are about to start changing colours and the temperature is going to go South before long… However, in the land of Professional Photography, now is the time when our calendars are filling up so it is my humble duty to put this out there for all of you who have been considering family portraits this Fall. 😛
For some of you, updating your family portraits is a regular thing. I personally update mine every two years… but for the rest of you out there, you may have never experienced custom professional photography before, and you might be wondering why in the world you should start now? Let me answer that for you…
Why Should I Have Family Portraits Done?
Well… once upon a time, you probably had a sweet little baby that you held in your arms and rocked to sleep each night while feeling like you’d never get a good night sleep again…But there’s no way that you’d trade the feel of that warm, snuggly little sleeping body for anything… Then, maybe you had the cute albeit mischievous little toddler, who wreaked havoc around the house, but then redeemed themselves in the cutest possible way right before you lost your mind and you’ll never forget that look that they had that melted your heart each time… Then there was the sass that came with the school years, and the look of concentration on their little faces while they learned so many fascinating new things…
And now here you are today, and your children have morphed into new little people. Gone is the little baby and the mischievous toddler, and you’d give anything to have them back for just a day. They’re there in your memory, but you’ll notice with each passing year that the memories get just a tad bit more fuzzy. When I first starting photographing my children and having my own family portraits done professionally, I was SO excited to see the end results, to print them in albums and hang them on my walls. They meant so much to me to have at first, but what I didn’t anticipate was how much MORE they’d mean to me years down the road. My children are now almost 7 and 9, and when I see portraits of them and our family from 3 or 4 years ago it literally boggles my mind how much we’ve all changed. We are all new people now, changing constantly, and my heart will forever be grateful to have these moments in our lives frozen forever in portraits, from the perspective of a professional photographer, who is trained to see special little moments differently than the average person.
So, back to the question then – Why should YOU have family portraits done? Simple. To take your lives, which are flying by at mach speed, and freeze them in time for just one evening, so that you can look back on them forever. So that one day, when your children are older, you can open up that album and have that “remember when?” chat with them. Family portraits are one of my favourite types of sessions, because I get to capture the bonds that exist within your family – so that Mom can finally see how her children adore her, and so dad can see how his children look at him when he doesn’t notice. Believe me folks, it’s an eye opener and an amazing experience that I look forward to for my own family each and every time.

I have to say, planning this years Apple Orchard Sessions wasn’t a walk in the park! There was a lot of back-and-forth, humming and hawing because Mother Nature decided to bless us with copious amounts of rain, and then last minute decisions to just go ahead because the sun peaked out for all of maybe an hour and the small amount of blooms that the orchard received this year were only out for a very short period of time… It was ALL worth it though, when I look back at the absolutely gorgeous images that we were able to capture!
I met with these lovely ladies the first day that the blooms were out. It had poured rain all day and the weather was pretty chilly still, but they were all troopers! Braving the bugs and the cold and the dewy long grass for these photos for their Daddy for Father’s Day, I was pretty impressed at how cooperative they all were! 🙂

Award Winning Image Announcement | Barrie Professional Photographer
I have been a member of the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) since 2012. Twice a year, they hold an International Image Competition, where some of the most talented Child Photographers in the world enter just a few of their very best portraits. I have entered every competition since 2012, never with the intention of actually winning, but because with my entry, I receive numerical scores and critiques, which help me learn and grow as a professional artist.
This week, the results from the Winter 2017 Competition were released and I was so very honoured and thrilled to have one of my images receive a Recognition of Merit in the Family category!
