Today is Sunday. It’s the one day that I take “off” every week and reserve for my family. But today was a beautiful, sunny day outside, and with such beautiful sunlight, my thoughts were preoccupied with a photography-related conundrum that’s been rattling around in my head forever. My problem? I want floor to ceiling windows. lol
I so badly had this vision in my head of my beautiful, angelic children (lol) playing happily in front of floor to ceiling windows with sheer white curtains, backlit by gorgeous sunlight streaming through. Unfortunately, my studio is in the basement, so this just isn’t a possibility. So I sat there, feeling sorry for myself, when all of a sudden, it hit me. I had all of the equipment necessary to reproduce the look I was longing for – I could make myself a fake window. I bolted for my studio with my daughter hot on my heels: “Mommy! What are you doing?” I told her we were going to have a photoshoot and she was SO excited, she promised she would cooperate, as long as I put make up on her. 😛
In a few minutes, I had this incredibly simple solution thrown together (how did it take me this long to figure it out!?) and my little model was in front of my camera doing her thing. She really is such an amazing kid, have a peek below! I tried to convince my son to participate, but there was no way he was taking off his Ninja Turtle jammies today. 😛
I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! Now, enjoy some images of the littlest Raindance Kid!
*Disclaimer – She is NOT falling in that one image, I promised her I’d make it look like she was though… you’ll see which one I mean… 😉
Oh! And also, if you’ve ever wanted to know a smidge more about me, click here! I am the spotlight photographer this week at newbornphotography.com! What an honour!
I met up with this lovely family back in July for a golden hour session – I can’t wait to start offering these again next Spring! I think they all had a great time, the girls were FULL of smiles and were more than willing to ham it up for the camera. I love how this session turned out and couldn’t wait to share with you! Enjoy!
I met this wonderful family back in June. It was such a beautiful warm night, the sun was a blazing ball of beautiful golden light in the sky, the mosquitoes were a tad thick, but hey, you can’t have it all, right!?
As we now roll into the Fall months, I’m already missing the early months of summer. Outdoor sessions are becoming more difficult to book now due to Mother Nature’s volatile attitude at this time of year; and I’m heading into in-studio season. This means a whole lot of cake smashes, babies in their first year, and my favourite – squishy little bitty newborns to keep me warm over the Winter! If you’re interested in booking one of these sessions, please check out my packages under the “Pricing” tab above, and then use the “Contact” page to book your session! 😀
Every time I have the opportunity to work with this family, I get all excited! I mean, photographing gorgeous twin girls and they’re awesome parents!? What more could one ask for!?
This session was full of running and playing, laughs, giggles, kisses and hugs, and just all around fun! I have been dying to share this session for ages, because I love how every single image has turned out! One of these images will actually be making a début as a featured portrait on my studio walls next week!
Just a little booking update for anyone who’s interested – I am fully booked for October and am nearly booked for November. If you were hoping to get in to see me before the end of the year PLEASE contact me soon so that I can fit you in! email@example.com If you’re wondering about packages and pricing, please scroll up and visit the “Pricing” section of this website. There’s also a whole new “FAQ” page too, that answers a bunch of the most commonly asked questions that I receive (in case you’re interested) 😉
Anyhow, now for what you came here for – PICTURES! Enjoy!
I think maybe I’ve put off blogging Lilah’s sessions for so long because I didn’t want her Baby Plan year to be over. It literally went by like LIGHTNING and now it’s been since June or July (is it bad that I can’t remember?) since I’ve seen her last!
I first met this sweet little gal’s mom when she was still expecting. She was scouting out photography studios to find the perfect fit for her (which I highly recommend that EVERYONE do!) I was thrilled when she chose me, and a few short weeks later, little Miss Lilah was born! She was a little stinker for her newborn session, definitely one of the most challenging ones of 2013, but she more than made up for it during the rest of her sessions.
I was lucky enough to work with this little lady again when she was 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and then 1 year old! She grew to have some of the most animated expressions I’ve seen on a baby! There was never a dull moment and every single session, during the retouching, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.
I’m missing this gal already, and am looking forward to working with her family again when she turns 2 next summer! For now, enjoy some adorable family and cake smash photos from her 1 year portrait session!
I feel like I’m going through newborn withdrawal. This time of year, I typically spend the majority of my time outdoors with families, soaking up the last rays of summer (or trying to get all of those family photos in before the snow flies!) It isn’t usually until November that newborn season starts to ramp up for me, when I see up to 4 newborns per week. And right now, I’m so ready for crazy baby season and all the warm, squishy snuggles that come with it! 😀
During the summer, I met with sweet little Benjamin and his family. I loved this session so much. One of the images from this session was even featured over at Child Photo Competition – Baby Boom Vol. 15!
I thought I’d share his session today, in case you’re feeling the need for some newborn cuteness like I am! 😉 Enjoy!
I know that Halloween hasn’t even happened yet, but I’m already SO PUMPED about Christmas! Yes, I’m one of those people who has their tree up the day after Halloween. Don’t judge.

Back in August, I had scheduled a whole bunch of mini sessions and they got rained out! Mother Nature and I have not been friends this year, which has made scheduling outdoor sessions quite difficult. Yesterday, however, could not have been nicer! The sun was shining and it was HOT! I had the privilege of working with 7 of the most well behaved babies and children ever. I will admit, I’m usually not a huge fan of mini sessions because they’re usually a gong show. I can’t spend as much time getting to know each child because of the short session time, but yesterday, it didn’t matter. They all showed up with their smiles on and were as cooperative as I could have hoped for!
I am now fully booked for September and am still accepting bookings for October. The only weekend timeslots I have left at this point are throughout the days on Saturday October 4th, and due to demand this year, I will be opening up Sunday October 5th for outdoor family sessions as well. If you’re interested in either of these dates, please send me an email to email@example.com to book. Packages and pricing can be found under the “Pricing” tab on this website.
And now, please enjoy some sneak peeks of all the cuties I got to work with yesterday! 😀
As you will see by the multitude of images in this blog post, I am IN LOVE (although I could be a little biased based on the subjects) with this session! For the last few years, we’ve been getting my daughter together with her best friend to do a photo session with the two of them together. We’ll probably do this until they don’t want to any more, and I’m so glad that we do it, because it’s pretty amazing to watch them grow and change. This year they are 4. The transformation between the toddlerhood of the 3 year old to this new stage of being a “child” is unbelievable. We had so much fun doing this session with the “pixie dust”. I’m pretty sure the little gals thought it was magic, and the big girls had fun too! It was definitely worth the week it took me to get all of the sparkles out of her hair… 😉
This year, the girls have new “big sisters” as well! Both of our families (my daugther’s BFF as well as us) are hosting two lovely ladies from France for the summertime. They are helping us with our children, and in turn, we help them with their English. I owe a HUGE thank you to my girl, Soéli, for being with us this summer. Without her I wouldn’t have been able to accept any bookings and I’d be missing out BIG TIME on shooting outdoors during my most favourite time of year!
As you can see from these images, the kids absolutely adore their big sisters. They are only with us for another month and we’ll have to say goodbye. It will be a VERY sad day, indeed. I hope that they enjoy their time with us enough to want to come back again next summer!
Also, just a little booking reminder that I am fully booked for the remainder of the Summer months. I am now accepting bookings for September and onwards. If you know that you would like to book a session (especially for maternity and/or newborn sessions) please contact me now to reserve your space! And now, enjoy the biggest blog post I’ve posted in a long time… 😀
